It is probable that the game has its roots in countries like Ancient Rome, China, or Greece. In these places, history has it that people kicked a ball made from leather. According to research, the period that China, Greece, and Ancient Rome engaged in soccer was in 2nd and 3rd centuries.
Britain Is the Home of Soccer. Soccer began to evolve in modern Europe from the medieval period onwards. Somewhere around the 9th century, entire towns in England would kick a pig’s bladder from one landmark to another. The game was often seen as a nuisance and was even banned during some periods of Britain’s history.
Records trace the history of soccer back more than 2,000 years ago to ancient China. Greece, Rome, and parts of Central America also claim to have started the sport; but it was England that transitioned soccer, or what the British and many other people around the world call “football,” into the game we know today.
In 1895, Chile, Switzerland and Belgium formed their soccer teams and established their football associations. The countries that later established their presence in the field of soccer, include Germany and Uruguay in 1900, Hungary in 1901 and Finland in 1907. Soccer was formally introduced as an Olympic sport in the 1900 Olympics.
Football (or soccer as the game is called in some parts of the world) has a long history. Football in its current form arose in England in the middle of the 19th century. But alternative versions of the game existed much earlier and are a part of the football history.
The history of soccer is believed to date back over 2,000 years to China and that the sport developed from ancient games. These games were often violent, with the losers potentially losing their lives. Over time these games evolved into the game of soccer that we know today.
In a paper from 2014, Szymanski writes that “soccer” originated in late 19th century England, as a way of differentiating between variants of the game which at that time did not have a commonly agreed-upon set of rules. In the early 1800s in England, football and rugby existed as different variations of the same game.
Where Did Soccer Originate As we have already seen, the earliest widely accepted ancestor of soccer ( Ts’u Chu) appeared in the 3 rd – 2 nd Century BC in China. While this is an early variation, it does not tell us where the modern game originated and how it evolved from its humble beginnings into the mega-popular sport that it is today.
